Caithlin Marievoet - 3D rigging & animation entry

by Caithlin on 30 May 2024 for Rookie Awards 2024

Hi, my name is Caithlin and I'm currently in my second year at Howest's animation course. If you told me where I'd be three years ago, I wouldn't have believed it. My work consists mostly of rigs, but I also do a bunch of 3D generalist stuff. I like combining the technical side with a bit of creative flair.

Hello everyone! These are some of the best works I made over the last couple of months. They're mostly rigs, but there are some renders and animations in there to spruce things up. I had a great time making these and I hope it shows.

Barry The StegoSoldier - Rig Showcase

A full body rig made in Maya. It has both IK and FK arm/leg controls with the option to stretch. The face rig includes overlap controls for the mouth and hair. Both eyebrows and cheeks can be animated using blendshapes. The eye controls have the added ability to change pupil size. The spine is FK, but every joint can be moved & rotated on it's own. The same goes for the tiles on his back and the tail. Most controls controls can be hidden to make it easier for animators to create key poses. The rig also includes a cigar, machine gun and gun belt that can be hidden and seperated.

The Big Liz film project.

Over the last couple of weeks we had to create a shot of a giant lizard destroying something. We were in a group of 5 people (3 animation students & 2 vfx). My job on the project was to create the rig and texture of the lizard and add sounds at the end.

Stormtrooper Run Cycle

Have we ever really seen a Stormtrooper run? Now you have! But where is he running to (or from)?

female face rig

A face rig showcasing the 6 main emotions.

Workplace Friendship

A nice looking render based on a painting from Vulpes-Ibculta. Our assignment was to replace the characters in the scene with pop culture icons we love. Everything is modeled, lit and textured from scratch.

Here's the original painting, wireframe render, clay render & final render without post:

Thanks for the support and having a look at my  work.

Have a nice day!
