“No Right Way:” a collection about the perfectionist tendencies I exude and the personification of my left brain by combining fashion with geometry.

I have always thought in numbers, letters, words, etc., which ties into this perfectionist standard I continue to hold for myself. This collection celebrated the inner workings of my unique mind. From their teachings to performances, the Bauhaus movement was the groundwork for this collection. From unity to simplification to geometric forms, I felt inspiration from the Bauhaus for this concept.

The Bauhaus movement focused heavily on the primaries. My collection took inspiration by incorporating saturated blues, gold, and touches of feminine reds and pinks. I used Adobe Photoshop to create three separate prints, which all incorporated this vibrant color palette.

I designed and created two bodysuit prints in Adobe Photoshop and the CLO 3D Fashion Design Software to be styled under the looks, inspired by the paint-by-number concept and an abstracted bodily form.

One of the themes surrounding this collection is the idea of perfection vs. imperfection. I contrasted larger shapes inspired by the Bauhaus with intricate understructure to support said forms. The CLO 3D Fashion Design Software aided in this process, allowing me to create shapes like cones, ovals, triangles, and other geometric silhouettes to scale. With CLO, I could simulate and fit garments to the exact measurements of my assigned models, saving time, materials, and resources.

As someone primarily left-brained, I have an interesting perspective when it comes to design and creation. I am technical and geometric in the way I design, but with my silhouette work, my goal is always to capture a feeling. I design for the bold and eclectic customer, but I want a sense of empowerment to be felt when wearing my garments. I do this through my silhouette work, creating pieces that fill the space around the body.

In addition to the five-look collection, I created a sixth look from my line-up on CLO, adding the specific prints and incorporating a geometric element in the sleeves.
