Maxine Auclair & The Mystery of the Floating Hotel
In my most recent assignment, I was tasked with pitching and designing an original game.
I enjoy playing mystery games and RPGs so I wanted to have a go at creating one of my own. I loved designing these characters and their environment as well as making the mystery itself complex and engaging for players.
As someone who usually designs characters for animation, it was refreshing to approach this from a game's point of view.
Maxine Auclair is the underappreciated but steadfast assistant to Detective Beachamp. Despite her grumbling, she secretly admires her partner for her vivacity and sharp mind.
She is quiet and observant, ever curious, and dedicated to the art of solving mysteries. Eager to prove herself she takes on the brunt of the casework whenever possible.
Claudia Beauchamp is the famous detective called by the hotel to solve the case. She has earned her reputation from solving cases that have left the best and brightest of Scotland Yard scratching their heads.
However, she is also famous for her alarmingly extravagant lifestyle and rambunctious manner. She loves all things grand and expensive and is prone to dropping her cases in favor of more indulgent and leisurely pursuits. And so she is happy for Maxine to lead the charge in this case especially once she sees the hotel and its exceptional facilities...

Dinosaur Mount and Paintover
This project was my first time using Zbrush and I had to model a dinosaur and accompanying concept art. I came up with a circus concept with my dinosaur acting as a showcase/float of sorts to entice crowds to follow it to the main circus tent.
I had immense fun with this project and exploring the logistics of fitting a whole tent on a dinosaur's back! I also have a newfound love for Zbrush and am excited to experiment more with it in the future.
Initial Thumbnail Sketches
At first, I wanted to design a whole functioning circus on the back of my Brachiosaurus but I quickly realised that for the scale of my dinosaur, a whole functioning circus couldn't possibly fit. After receiving feedback from my tutor I redesigned the tent to act more as a moving showcase of the circus' attractions, which I think works much better.

Sculpt process, poly paint, and final render.
I started with a Zsphere rough block out and from there sculpted by hand, no alphas were used.
Final tent structural design and color test.

These two characters are part of a personal project I hope to develop into a short film in the future about two sisters, Nat (Natasha) and Cornelia (Nell), affectionately named the umbrella sisters for their stormy dispositions and unique hair.

Imagined City Streets
My first student project was to design a fictional street set in a real city. I thoroughly researched my two chosen cities, Hanoi and Damascus, to design an authentic feeling cityscape. It was a challenging excersie especially in terms of perspective but I enjoyed the process!
Damascus
Hanoi
Thank you for your time!
