Here’s my project, “Japanese house”, inspired by the japanese culture and their amazing architecture. I have done the modeling and lightning in Maya, textured in Substance Painter, render in Arnold and the final composition in Photoshop.

My name is Amaya Maroto, from Madrid, Spain. I have studied a 3D Production Fundamentals course in Animum 3D. I started this project to complement my studies and improve my learning, inspired by the japanese architecture and their culture, that has always fascinated me, and give me a sensation of harmony and tranquility.

I started this project searching some house references, wich color paletes would work with the image I wanted to create…

This are some references that inspired me for this project.

Then I started to modeling basic structures in Maya, after I went to do some objects and details.
Next step, was to do the textures in Substance Painter, going by the woods, the stone, the roof tiles, the water… Once I have all the textures, I painted by hand some dirt, to give it the passing of time appereance in the areas of more wear.

I come back to Maya to bring the materials and to work in the lightning, giving it some sunset vives, and some lights inside the house and in the lantern.

I have done a principal render and some in different perspectives, so you can see it in detail and in different views.

For last, I take the principal render image to Photoshop to make a composition and an integration to a real environment, working by layers to adjust saturation, color balance…
I have really enjoy the entire process of this project, giving life to the idea I had in mind. Hope you like it, thank you!
