My favourite work over the last year

Fan art: Syd Mead's desert planet

For this project I visualized one of the works of the legendary concept artist Syd Mead. I absolutely love his work and thought it would be cool to recreate one of them into 3D. I chose this one because I really liked the lighting and the composition. 

In this project I tried to create as much as possible myself. Most of the scene is hand modelled and textured using Maya's toolkit. The trees were made using Tree it and the stone formation was created using Quixel's assets. Everything is rendered using Arnold and some final adjustments were done in Photoshop.

I learned a lot from this project about lighting and analysing concept art in order to recreate it as good as possible. This project took me little over 2 weeks to complete and I am proud of the result.

The sentry X Winnie the Pooh

Eeyore has fallen into a ditch while returning from Piglet's birthday party. He feels sad because his cake got ruined by all the mud.

This project is inspired by the painting called "The senry" by Carel Fabritius. I took inspiration from the lighting and the composition ot achieve this result.

With this project, I aimed to push my boundaries and explore various new tools and techniques. The bridge, trees, and fur were created using Houdini, while everything else was hand-modelled from scratch in Maya. I did use a few Megascan models for the pebles and the grass. All other models where hand textured using Substance Painter. The entire scene was rendered using Arnold, with some additional color grading done in DaVinci Resolve. I really enjoyed working on this project and gained lots valuable insights during the process. Overall, it took approximately a month to complete.
