as a second year at CDW I have learned so much and just now see how far I have to go so this is a showcase at the start of my studies and inspired projects. The 3 projects showcased include Damage, a fighting game, Void, a concept art brief for a sci-fi company, and Cult of the Eye character designs.

DAMAGE is a 1v1 fighting game concept set in a fictional magical world filled with mages. These are 3 characters that would be included as a part of a roster. 

Here is the development of the characters. I started with silhouettes to make them recognisable and unique from the start, to pick them out from a large selection of characters. 

This is the development and the result of the select screen. This demonstrates how the UI and graphical elements of the game would be visualised. 

Here is some initial concepts. I wanted to include vibrant neon colours like the red and green used, almost reminiscent of arcade games which Is visually striking. 

Logo Development. From the get-go I wanted the design to be bold and simple while also conveying the feeling of a fighting game that is mage-themed. You can see how my variety of experimentation narrowed down. 

The characters needed somewhere to fight so I took one of my classes as an opportunity to design 2 arenas. 

This first one I wanted a ruined temple and I experimented more with building shapes

At this point the visual language of the big building was not matching well enough and the arena felt a bit empty  so I made some changes. 

The second arena I wanted to explore was the inside of the temple. This time I used thumbnails to explore some sort of focus like a statue or tree.

Once I got the statues and tree right the rest was a lot of reusing assets and trial and error with lighting and rendering. 

This is another project where I aimed to create a Cryostorage crate and Corridor for Void, a fictional tech company operating in space. Initially, it was going to be MarsCorp but I later changed. 

The corridor needed to match the design of the crate and the colour scheme. The corridor was to include a large door to some sort of hanger bay, visible power source for the door, and a control panel.

The brief for this character design exercise was to create two characters that relate to each other in some way and one that was an antagonist. 

Initial exploration of the types of characters I wanted and how I developed and explored possible looks and designs.
