I'd like to start by presenting some of the projects I've done at Artside, and take this opportunity to thank all the intervenants and my schoolmates for their feedback and support.

              - Half-demon centaur -

My aim was to create a game-ready character and I naturally chose Da Duizhang's concept, which I found interesting for its dynamic pose and design choices. I was keen to transpose this concept into 3d as best I could and to push my stylised skills further.

Due to the density of the project, I learnt a lot about my time management and organisation.

I also had to rather enough references in addition to the concept and learn about horse anatomy in order to be as coherent as possible.

Modeling process

Retopology and UVs

For the retopology and UV I used Blender and RizomUV.  After creating a base in Painter I pushed the handpaint into 3d Coat.

The PBR was also managed in Painter.

I also created a basic rig from scratch in Maya. The aim was to push further my rigging and skinning skills an also for fitting the reference as musch as possible.

Finally, I integrated the mesh and set up the lighting in UE.

I also created a material for the background to create a gradient effect.

                            - Zaya -                                                  AVLIGA project

This project is part of my graduation project.

The aim was to create a playable character by pushing the sculpting and texturing as far as possible.

The artistic direction was inspired by Wayfinder.

I used the Blender Game Rig Tool addon for the rig and then replaced the Unreal mannequin to keep the basic movement animations.

I also took some Mixamo animations and used the blueprint to launch them on command.

I also learned how to manage the clothes simulation in Unreal.

Concept Artist : Léo Brun.

Concept by Javier Burdos

3-week project done at Artside.

The aim was to have a clean sculpt and try to make the character appealing.

Polypaint in Zbrush and compositing in Photoshop.
