Glad that work submitted to the Rookie Awards 2024 seems to be coming to fruition. We worked really hard to make it and had fun making it, so hope everyone enjoys it.

We were so impressed by the cyberpunk edge runner that we came up with the story together. The story features Paloma, a netrunner with hacking-specific abilities, and V, a male character with excellent physicality by remodeling physical abilities. The two characters are asked to infiltrate a military giant and steal a military drone. It tells the story of overcoming a crisis and escaping while carrying out this request.

We wanted to let people know without explaining separately that the story of this video is based on the cyberpunk 2077 world. Also, a strong physical character was needed to proceed with the story, and we decided to be the main character because V is already powerful in the cyberpunk world.

In the case of a female character capable of hacking, it's an undercover role, a spy naturally came to mind. The Cuban agent Paloma of 007: No time to Die, matched the image. In additionaly, she appeared briefly in the movie, but the impression was strong, so I thought I could clearly impress our portfolio viewers.

Ballbot patrols and manages the facility and a drone that attacks intruders.

The ballbot is designed to be round, not aggressive. Sensors for facility management are on the front and sides.

The drone referenced the drone's shape in Spider-Man: far from home. Decals are engraved to emphasize that it is a weapon of destruction.

Before getting the overall layout, we first decided on the screen ratio. Most of the works with cyberpunk in the background have a screen ratio of 2.35:1, and I thought that the characters would move more horizontally than up and down in a long line of server computers, so I thought a longer screen ratio was appropriate.

After that, I thought about whether each shot was continuing well and proceeded with the layout work. Whether the subjects visible through the camera angle were conveying the story well, whether the moving camera's energy was well connected in the next shot, and when working on one shot, I used multiple angles and multiple lens values, and proceeded with the layout work by editing each shot roughly every day.

A woman in charge of hacking, a man who is good at fighting. A drone floating in the air, a ballbot rolling on the floor. Each character has clear tendencies and characteristics, and recognized such differences and sought out animation reference.

For female characters, soft-motion model working videos were referenced, and for male characters, ufc's fighting scenes were referenced. In the case of hologram hacking or combat scenes that are hard to find, we filmed the reference ourselves and proceeded with animation.

Since it is a three-part video, I focused on taking the three atmospheres differently with lighting.

Unlike general reality, we worked to make it colorful with neon and strong contrast. It is important to maintain reality, but given the specificity of the genre, it was somewhat exaggerated.

Since the beginning of the video is a part that succeeds in infiltrating, it is expressed brightly and cleanly, making the viewer feel stable

After the intrusion was discovered and the door was closed, a red light was added to make the warning light resonate throughout the scene, causing tension.

In the ending scene where the hacking was successful and the drones were picked up, the back light was used to create a grand atmosphere.

We expressed the hacking process of Netrunner Paloma in a hologram. It was synthesized through Nuke without renders in Maya, creating a cyberpunk atmosphere.

And there were scenes of fighting with shooting drones, so 3D compositing was done in nuke.

And the drone's HUD was also made as close as possible to the one from Spiderman Far from Home.
