Hi!

I'm Isabelle, a graphic and motion designer from Jakarta, Indonesia, finishing my final quarter at the Savannah College of Art and Design.

My work is a visual playground where ideas and experiences connect. It also reflects the ever-changing world around me, constantly evolving. Each piece reflects the unique experiences that inspire me and the different skills I'm constantly honing. This journey of exploration and experimentation has ignited a passion for constant evolution in my visual style.

This portfolio showcases a selection of student projects I've created during my last few months at SCAD. Enjoy! :)

Warren & Laetitia: New Future

This project delves into the world of Warren & Laetitia, a Parisian design studio renowned for its playful and functional lamps and vases. Crafted from recycled plastic, their creations embody a commitment to sustainability and cater to the growing interest of local creatives and design enthusiasts.

The film highlights their iconic GIGI and Amanda lamp collections, showcasing the meticulous manufacturing process behind each piece. Their products are carefully made out of composed of r-PETG (recycled polyethylene glycol terephthalate), r-PLA (recycled polylactic acid) obtained from recycled plastic packaging, and PLA (polylactic acid), a bioplastic obtained from corn starch.

This concept film celebrates Warren & Laetitia's playful and unconventional designs, showcasing not only their signature aesthetic but also the sustainable practices behind each creation. It visually explores the diverse materials used, the meticulous creation process, and the positive environmental impact of their work.

My Secret Wish

When I was young, my mom always told me to drink my milk and eat my veggies to grow faster. But what if I don't want to grow up?

Navigating the transition from childhood to adulthood can be a time of conflicting emotions. As I approach this stage in my life, I find myself grappling with a mix of excitement and apprehension. This ambivalence inspired my senior film, an honest and bold exploration of these complex feelings.

This film explores the fear of growing up through the lens of a little creature who fears the passage of time and the idea of growing up. Like many young adults, the little creature fears the things that come with growing up: the daunting uncertainty, the weight of new responsibilities, the prospect of isolation, the inexorable march of time, the inevitability of aging, and the spooky mysteries surrounding death. He equated aging to losing. Losing his teeth, best friends, playtime, and parents. The mere idea of losing his memories and having wrinkles on his face fills him with dread.

In hopes of counteracting this, he engages in a lot of odd and absurd actions in order to avoid growing up. He embarks on a mission where he does everything in his power, from resisting sleep to failing his exams, from wishing upon lucky numbers to cutting milk from his diet, all in an attempt to prevent the inevitable process of growing up. This creature's mission explores the poignant and universal theme of confronting the anxieties that come hand-in-hand with the journey into adulthood, comforting those with the same fears and struggles.

The History of Type – Styleframes

Styleframes for an infographic that tells a brief history of typography from as early as the 1400s and how typography has significantly changed since then. It discusses early typefaces and their challenges, the different founders of well-known typefaces, and how the field has dramatically changed today.

Brewing Wonders – Branding Pitch + Styleframes

This project is a conceptual pitch for the branding and title sequence for CoMotion, SCAD's student-led motion design conference. This collaboration was done with Tiffany Tedy.

Our goal is to create an identity that captures the transformative CoMotion experience. Here, we celebrate motion design in a diverse and inclusive environment. Humans have a fundamental desire to create connections and strengthen relationships with themselves and others. Motion design is a powerful tool that can fulfill this innate need.

As motion designers, we constantly seek the finest ingredients and push the boundaries of experimentation to craft exceptional pieces. This quest allows us to create motion design that fosters deep and intimate connections.

In essence, CoMotion is akin to a culinary haven, where we savor the diverse flavors of stories brought forth by the Motion Design department. It serves as an ideal space for self-expression, enabling like-minded individuals to connect on a profound level. To conclude, our title sequence functions as a I chemical recipe, artfully concocted to form deep human connections and act as a great catalyst for social harmony, ultimately fostering the fulfillment of meaningful relationships.

Pasar Snacks: Indonesian Market Snacks

One of the ways I get comfort while feeling homesick is to do something for my senses. For me, it’s finding a piece of home in the meals I cook and the ingredients I buy. The quest for authentic Indonesian flavors abroad made me realize how rarely Indonesian cuisine is discussed and celebrated internationally, and so, for this piece, I wanted to highlight and celebrate Indonesia’s diverse flavors.

“Indonesian cuisine” encompasses an extensive array of ethnic dishes, making it impossible to establish a singular definition. Each region has culinary traditions that draw inspiration from indigenous cultures while incorporating foreign influences. The country’s long history of trade, migration, and cultural exchange with various nations and regions contributed to the richness of Indonesian cuisine. Some of the strongest influences on Indonesia’s culinary scene include Chinese and Dutch cuisines.

With that said, “Pasar Snacks” mainly focuses on my personal experience with the traditional foods I had growing up in Jakarta, a city on the northwest coast of Java. To me, traditional Indonesian snacks are the bridge that connects me to home and memories of my childhood. This became the driving force of the animation; I wanted to evoke tenderness and feelings of nostalgia through this project using a visual style that is warm, cozy, and feels handmade.

Looking ahead,

I can't wait to continue my journey as I step into the next chapter of my career in the motion design industry. It's a field that constantly pushes creative boundaries, and I'm thrilled to see what the future holds!

Thank you for viewing my work!
