Underground Subway

by AtulChavan on 27 May 2024 for Rookie Awards 2024

This features a game-ready Subway Walkway constructed in Unreal Engine. This artwork took me a month to complete. Utilizing Blender and Substance Painter, I designed and textured all the 3D assets for this composition. I engineered material shaders within Unreal Engine integrating various textures I had created.

I developed a shader initially intended for props, featuring RGB texture masking capability. Within this shader, I incorporated functions enabling adjustments to brightness, contrast, saturation, roughness intensity, normal intensity, and metal intensity. Additionally, I implemented a function for blending colors into the base texture and included functionality for UV map movement along the X and Y axis, along with texture tiling capabilities.

I created a glass shader based on the glass shader which I got from the starter content. I also added the function of adding a normal map and controlling the intensity as well if needed. Additionally, I created a shader for decals as well. I further added the function of adding brightness, contrast, normal maps, and the function to blend color with the base texture

Vertex Paint Master Material -

I designed a master material to regulate the degree of damage depicted on the scene's walls. Within this material, I integrated functions enabling the incorporation of two distinct texture sets, each subject to independent adjustments in brightness, contrast, saturation, roughness intensity, normal intensity, and metal intensity. This material relies on a height map to serve as a mask for vertex painting on the 3D model.
