The Happiness of Life

 In this collection I explored my passion for art and craftsmanship which has become such a fundamental part of who I am. As a daughter of two SCAD alumni, I grew up in a very artistic household where creativity was always fostered and encouraged.

Inspired by my mother’s college fibers work and the artworks of Henri Matisse, this collection has a heavy knitwear and textile focus. It plays with color, pattern and texture adding an artisan twist to ready-to-wear staples.

Utilizing CLO3d, I was able to make a digital first prototype of my garments before making a physical 2nd prototype then final fabric garments.

Creating my knitting patterns in CLO allowed me to easily access the measurements needed in order to calculate my knitting instructions to get the most precise outcome of instructions for fully fashioning. It also allowed me to premeditate my knitted stripe alignment, so I knew which colors to start with and for how many rows to knit each color to make the stripes match. 

In addition, CLO allowed me to test out my repeat pattern proportions on garments to see which size stripe pattern worked best, allowing me to decide what I wanted to use on my final digitally printed fabric.

With this collection I aim to create vibrant and jovial clothing, capturing what art and craftsmanship have always been for me: THE HAPPINESS OF LIFE.
