My Second Year In

Hi, my name is Theo Le Pen. I'm a French junior motion designer based in Nantes, France. This year has been a major year for my career. I had the opportunity to meet more people from the French scene, and I took more time to concentrate on my craft and art.

In this entry, I have selected my favorite projects from this year. I hope you like them as much as I do.

SEA SHEPHERD
Opération Dolphin Bycatch
Motion design - Explainer Video

This motion design explainer video focuses on Sea Shepherd's operation Dolphin Bycatch in France, a critical initiative led by the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society to address the pressing issue of unintentional dolphin entanglement in fishing gear. France's coastal waters are home to a rich diversity of marine life, including several species of dolphins, but they also face the threat of becoming ensnared in fishing nets and gear intended for other species.

My role was to explain the operation in an aesthetic manner that would convey the cruelty of this act without depicting blood or explicit violence. I utilized a mixed media style, playing on contrasts and saturated textures, with a significant amount of parallax to guide the viewer through the action.

A short film that depicts the cruelty behind the French expression :

SORTIES DE BAIN
Street arts festival, 
Motion design - Trailer

My role was to create a trailer with joyful colors that reflects the spirit of the festival in a trendy mixed media style with a freeform technique and writing.

LES CRÉATURES
- Title design

A remake of the title screen from my favorite Agnès Varda movie, "LES CRÉATURES," starring Catherine Deneuve and Michel Piccoli. It showcases real locations where the movie was filmed on the island of Noirmoutier, France. I also interpreted some new compositions and scenes once on site.

TATI
GRAND REOPENING - Trailer

This was a major project where we were asked to create a new art direction for the French clothing brand TATI, which consisted of several months of work. We then made a trailer video to promote the event. I worked on the video with Chloe Andrieux and Yanis Moal (check out their profiles on The Rookies).
