Hey!  I'm excited to present my debut entry to the Rookie Award. Currently in my fourth year specializing in FX at ARTFX.

Here's a compilation of both group and personal projects I've worked on this year. We'll delve deeper into two of these projects to see how they were executed.

Nomad crash from The creator :

After receiving the modeling of the Nomad, I thoroughly analyzed the reference material and concluded that the Nomad was divided into three main parts.

After separating them using Booleans, I animated the parts according to the reference to ensure proper collision.

Afterward, I was able to fracture the model and, using Houdini's "active" and "animated' attributes, perform an optimized RBD simulation that only considers pieces in direct collision or at the end of a detachable piece.

The final step was to refine it with smoke simulations and secondary FX.

Building destruction:

I began by modeling this spaceship, inspired by the "Star Citizen" universe.

Then, I utilized the Rebelway building which I fractured and retextured

After animating the spaceship, I simulated the collision in RBD while maintaining an interesting art direction on the fracture. Subsequently, I used a POP simulation to create the smoke simulation source.
