Casino and Forest
I am pleased to introduce my first 3D lighting portfolio, "Casino and Forest." Even in the same space, I enjoy creating various atmospheres through lighting. Thank you for watching.
THE LAST OF US
Concept
The same space was used to create two scenes with contrasting atmospheres by using different lighting. The first scene, with a hunter, has a mystical and gloomy atmosphere due to the thick fog. In contrast, the second scene, featuring a deer, was crafted with warm colors and intense light to convey a sense of vitality.
Work process
I found and placed plant assets in Chaos Cosmos and Megascan that resembled the concept art. The grass and moss in the background were randomly placed using Mash, and the grass was created using the maya fur function.
For the first scene, because the fog was a major element, I first established the lighting framework and then prioritized working on the fog in Nuke, and then used the fog results to set up the lighting details. For the second scene, focused on depicting the shadows of leaves created by light penetrating the plants and light coming through the leaves.
CASINO
Concept
The scene is represented the ruined present during the day, while the past, bustling with games at night, is depicted. To represent the passage of time, the lighting was centered around sunlight from windows during the day and lights and candles at night.
Work process
In the camera shot, modeling was done from the largest object to the smallest. The basic design was based on concept art, but details were added with reference to actual objects. Spider webs were created by connecting an alpha map to a plane, and a sparkling effect was achieved using self-illumination with a noise map. Then, using ncloth, the spider webs were subtly animated to reduce the static feeling while maintaining a serene atmosphere.
At night, an animation of a roulette wheel spinning and the ball rolling was added to create a dynamic scene. To emphasize the effect of the animation, the camera work started with the roulette wheel to show an overall view of the scene.
