2024 Portoflio projects - Indiana Jones & Silent HIll

I chose two of my favourite portfolio projects I made this year, following my schedule of making at least one artwork a month

Round of applause for our sponsors
I'm a self taught 3D artist and have been starting learning and practicing since 2021. I started working on my portfolio only this year as I grew a bit more self confidence with 3D workflow.
I usually tend to prefer creating all the assets by myself without relying on third party ones. This is probably not helping towards getting good results in a short time, but here it is two of my favourite pieces I made so far, that I hope you will enjoy. Feedbacks are well appreciated of course.

Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis

Back when I was a kid I fell in love with this videogame gem from LucasArts so I decided I wanted to give myself a tribute to this masterpiece of an old school point & click adventure.
For this piece the only reference I had was the original screenshot and the comments Indiana Jones is giving for some of the objects visible in the scene...loads of space for my imagination as you can guess.
Indiana Jones and the fate of Atlantis is a copyrighted product by LucasArts.

To make this piece I used Blender for modeling all the static objects and Substance 3D Painter for texturing.
Then I transplanted every asset into Unreal Engine 5.3 to recreate the scenery with the right mood and atmosphere, through Lumen lighting, Niagara particle system and post process volume effects. Lastly I added the final compositing touch in DaVinci Resolve Studio.

I made Indiana's body with Character Creator 4 as I'm mainly more proficient with environment and props, modeled and textured his outfit and accessories with Blender and Substance Painter and animated it with Iclone 8.

Silent Hill 3 - Lakeside Amusement Park

I made this piece right before Indiana Jones' as I got inspired by a friend of mine who's a passionate lover of this game from Team Silent. We found the original 3D map of the Lakeside Amusement Park entrance so I used that as a great reference in order to recreate a replica of that as faithful as possible.
Silent Hill 3 is a copyrighted product by Konami.

Instead of using the original assets from the 3D map and simply remeshing them, I only used them as reference to match sizes and created every single asset from scratch, as I wanted to fully put my skills to test. So I used Blender for all the modeling, Affinity Designer 2 for the stencils (especially for the shop gallery posters) and Substance 3D Painter for the texturing.
Then I transplanted the whole map into Unreal Engine 5.3 to create the perfect atmosphere using Lumen lighting, volumetric fog and post process volume effects.
For the final editing touch I did some compositing in Davinci Resolve Studio.

Allthough they are completely still in the original game, since I also love 3D animation I thought about rigging and animating the characters-props in the scene using Blender.

Both projects took me about 4 weeks each from start to finish, as I set my target for 2024 to create a portfolio piece each month, with the aim to improve my skills with every following project.
