RE-DESIGNING THE VISUAL IDENTITY FOR A MOVIE THEATRE IN NORTHERN TOULOUSE, LE MÉLIÈS

INTENTIONS
I'm interested in the cinema as a place: as a darkened theatre, as a place to experience, as a place where, when we walk through the doors, we are transported into a world of our own.
I'm working on the idea of a spectator's cinematic experience in this particular space.
This experience of the spectator, which we call the cinematic experience, is the idea of giving the public something different and complementary to the everyday audiovisual experience. It's a shared experience.
The idea of cinema is the idea of a multiple universe. Every time you go to see a new film, you experience a different one.
To represent this phenomenon, I introduced several factors: the darkroom, the universe (that of the film shown) into which it projects us, and finally the spectator.
I created a photographic work to represent these three elements of the same experience.

REPRESENTATION OF THE DARK ROOM

This universe of black and white, light and shadow, represents the idea of a dark room. These images are full of contrast and the motif becomes one with the character: the universe becomes one with the character, he is completely immersed in it, it's the cinematic experience. 

FURTHER EXPERIMENTS

The continuation of my experiments was the introduction of a new dimension to my photographic work. This new dimension aims to make Méliès more contemporary, modern and accessible. The photographs that I have taken so far are a tribute to the cinema of George Méliès and to the quality of the art house label that the Méliès has. To meet the demand and reach the public I wanted to reach, I had to find an alternative to this very artistic atmosphere. I superimposed the motifs that I'd used before, but this time I used colour. These color patterns widen the scope of the cinematic universe. They're a complement to the idea that I had for the motif, the idea of a world in which the spectator is immersed during the cinematic experience.
We therefore have this idea of a more contemporary image, but also a new field of possibilities in the idea of motive and universe; and all this thanks to the work of colors.

THE LOGOTYPE

Simplified graphic representation of the contrast between black and white photography and colour. The contrast of the experimental work is reflected in the contrast between the highly angular black typography and the brightly coloured round dots. This hybrid construction (between the angular typography and the round pastille) gives a certain rhythm to the composition.
