Hi everyone! This is my 2024 Rookies Compositing submission! Hope you all enjoy and feel free to leave any feedback or ask any questions :D
My Comp Reel
Here is my full reel consisting of 6 shots. Below I have more detailed descriptions of what I did on some of my favorite shots.
Spaceship Takeoff
For this project I used footage from the ActionVFX practice library, as well as assets from FootageCrate. The goal was to create an atmospheric shot that is believable, but still entertaining. My favorite part was definitely making the shot feel atmospheric and interesting (specifically the background). Oh and did I mention the cockpit dirt being lit up by the engine :D
Jupiter In Space
This was a quick, fun shot made using stock footage/assets from Footage Crate. I utilized Nuke's 3D system and tried to make it as interesting as possible. My favorite part was adding the glow and animating the swirls on the planet. As well as the overall lookdev.
(Easter Egg :D ) Was inspired by the Alien Isolation menu screen haha.
Spooky House
For this project i used elements from Footage Crate, and utilized (as always) Foundry's Nuke. This was done within Nuke's robust 3D system. My favorite part about this project was adding the interactive lighting from the fire onto the environment. The most difficult/fun part was definitely turning the shot from day to night!
Underpass Sniper
This project was done with footage from Tears of Steel as well as some elements from Footage Crate. I used primarily an IBK, to pull a nice key. My favorite part was definitely having the light leak and lightwrap around his head!
I employed different techniques to draw the viewers eye to the correct spots, such as by using a bright light behind his head and movement near his face from a bg character.
