EVELYNE

Introduction

The 3D animated film starts with an unassuming tailor shop, owned by a young, dark-haired seamstress, Evelyne. However, behind the seamstress’ innocent guise, lies a terrible secret. As we follow her routine around the shop, unusual behaviors and items hint at her sinister motivations. The animation is rendered in Unreal Engine 5.

Pre-Production

Concept Art

These are some early explorations of the tailor shop interior. There was initially a stairwell leading up to Evelyne’s personal workshop on the second floor, but we opted to combine both the store and the workshop into one floor. The room was lit with a warmer tone to create a false sense of security within the shop and contrast with the cold, bleak landscape outside.

Simulations with nCloth

Evelyne interacted with the Hero Asset, the Sewing Machine. We experimented with various methods to simulate cloth in the scene, including Unreal's physics, nCloth, and Marvelous Designer. Ultimately, we opted for nCloth Simulations. We baked the animation using Alembic Cache and imported it into the Unreal Sequencer.
